Chicken BBQ a success: The Hanover Center Fair Committee extends its thanks to the church family for supporting and participating in the recent drive-through Chicken BBQ. So many people volunteered to help, bought meals, solicited and contributed donations, and told their friends, making the event a big success. The event served 239 meals and raised over $3,200, PLUS the Byrne Foundation contributed an additional $3,000 (they usually support the Fair and were willing to support the BBQ event in lieu of the Fair this year), so a grand total of over $6,200 was raised! Truly a gift to the church coffers. And as is the case with all our church events, this was a great opportunity to share warmth and fellowship - even drive-through style - with the larger community. Thanks for your support.
Spring 2021 Etna Ladies Aid Rummage Sale Update: The Etna Ladies Aid wishes to express their sincere thanks to the many people who donated to our first rummage sale since the pandemic. Special thanks go to the many people who came out to shop! We are very pleased to report that $3,608.59 was raised during this two-day event. We will decide in upcoming meetings what local community projects and service organizations we will support with these funds. Mark your calendars for our next rummage sale: September 24 and 25.
Thanks go also to Ralph Puckett who drove the remaining clothing to the Rise Again Outreach Mission Project in Loudon, NH (see below). Editor’s note: The return of the rummage sale even made the Valley News last Saturday! https://www.vnews.com/Etna-rummage-sale-returns-41151071
A note from the Etna Missions Committee: Rise Again Outreach is most grateful for our congregation’s donation of clothing and other items from last week’s rummage sale. Thirty bags and boxes were delivered to their headquarters in Loudon and will be available for the people they serve. Updates on Rise Again’s ministry will be discussed during a Moment for Missions on 25 July.
The Missions Committee offered our congregation’s best wishes and prayers for missionary Madeline Flores’ return to the Dominican Republic in July. She is most appreciative and is working on a personal visit in October or November.
Flower Signup: For summer services in Hanover Center (July and August), congregation members are asked to provide the two flower bouquets. Contact Christine Hoskin to sign up, or if you have questions.
