Outreach: Our current outreach project is a collection of items for Maynard House (previously the Upper Valley Hostel) which provides friendly, comforting and affordable lodging for patients and their families who are receiving treatment and care at local hospitals. They are in need of Disinfecting wipes, Dishwasher pods, Laundry detergent, Trash bags—large kitchen and small 4 gallon size; any band is okay for these items. Items can be left on the serving table in Trumbull Hall until May 16, 2021. This is another great opportunity to reach out and share our Christian Love with others.
UCC Meeting: The Grafton Orange Sullivan Association will hold its Spring meeting on THIS Sunday May 16, 2021 at 2:00 PM via Zoom. Heidi Hoskin is the Hanover Center delegate. Anyone interested in joining Heidi should contact her by phone or email. She can provide a link for the meeting.
Missions: The Executive Director of Cru Military, Joe Ludwikowski, has shared their most recent quarterly ministry report with us, illustrating the good work that our Lord is doing through Cru Military. Due to the large size of the PDF file, we cannot provide a copy here, but you may read their most recent quarterly report at the following link: www.flipbookpdf.net/web/site/1defd3a46f46475d44806a1100e1d182bb0e8cbdFBP21635402.pdf.html
Bible Study: Pastor Chris Green is starting a Bible study, “How to Read the Bible”, on Sunday evenings at 7 PM. This study is for everyone, no matter how much experience you may or may not have with the Bible. The Bible is a large book, but it doesn’t have to be intimidating. The study will be held in Trumbull Hall but will also be available via Zoom. Contact Pastor Chris by email if you'd like the Zoom meeting credentials, or if you have questions.
Drive-Through Ham and Bean Supper: Remember, THIS Saturday, May 15, 2021, is the date for the drive-through version of the famous Ham and Bean Supper! Delicious ham, homemade baked beans, coleslaw, homemade rolls, and cookies will be served on a to-go basis – $10 per meal suggested donation. Meals are be available for pick up on Saturday from 4:30-6:00 PM. Reservations may still be available; check with Norma Pelton. Twenty-five meals will be available to be picked up every 15 minutes from 4:30 to 6:00 PM. We are hoping to sell 150 meals this year. This is a community event so tell your neighbors about it!
Choir Wraps Up Virtual Rehearsals: This week the choir finished its virtual rehearsals, taking a well-deserved summer break. The choir has tackled more than 20 new songs this year, building its repertoire of music, with hopes of sharing it with the congregation in person starting next fall. Virtual rehearsals have been a challenge for all involved, and yet the choir members gamely continued to participate, bravely singing solo (which most would prefer not to do) because multiple voices can not sing simultaneously via Zoom, and devoting time and energy to practicing parts alone at home between rehearsals. The dedication of our musicians, including our wonderful pianist Kay Hillinger, has been remarkable. Heartfelt thanks to all who participated. We will look forward to welcoming all back in person come September (we hope!). -Christine Hoskin
