The Interchurch Council and Pastor Spinney made a decision to try a hybrid worship service tentatively starting Sunday June 14, pending NH state guidelines on church gatherings. The idea is for Pastor Spinney tol lead an outdoor service and the congregation can join at a safe distance by car in the Etna church parking lot or by ZOOM. We are working out details in line with our national and state guidelines, keeping the safety of our congregation as an important priority and will let everyone know in the coming week by mail/email. In the meantime, we will plan on continuing our ZOOM worship services on Sundays at 10 AM and online Bible study Tuesdays at 7 PM.
His father takes the lad into the forest…blindfolded…and leaves him…alone. He is required to sit on a stump the whole night…and not take off his blindfold until a ray of sun shines through it. He is all by himself. He cannot cry out to anyone for help.
Once he survives the night, he is a MAN. He cannot tell the other boys of the experience. Each must come into his manhood on his own. The boy is terrified… he hears all kinds of noises…. He imagines beasts all around him. The wind blows, his stump is shaking, but he sits stoically, never removing the blindfold.
Finally after a horrific night, the sun emerges and he removes his blindfold. It is then he sees his father sitting on a stump next to him. He had been watching over his child the whole night.
We are never alone. Even when we do not know it, we have church family, friends, and a God who loves us sitting on the stump beside us.
God Bless all!
