Week of April 28, 2024

And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.  For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.  For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.  - Ephesians 2:1-10 (ESV)

The essence of the Gospel in ten verses.
Please join us in Etna or online as Pastor Chris explores Ephesians in his sermons this spring.

Joining Journeys: If you consider this church family your home church but haven’t yet made it official, you're invited to an upcoming information meeting this Sunday, April 28, right after the morning service. Pastor Chris would love to share with you the journey our church is on and what membership means, as well as answer any questions you might have.
Bible Study Opportunities:   We offer a weekday Bible discussion on Wednesday mornings at 10 am in Trumbull Hall. Please join us for coffee, baked goods, and lively discussions of Scripture arising from the previous Sunday's sermon. All are welcome, no previous experience required!

Our Sunday morning Bible discussions will resume on Sunday May 5th to introduce our next study topic.  We're still soliciting your input on this, so please share your thoughts and questions with Pastor Chris or Mark Hardy, either "live" or via email.
LISTEN Dinner Team: Would you like to serve God by serving dinner to the hungry?  For many years now a team from our church has taken a turn every other month at the free dinners at the LISTEN Center. It would only take about 2 hours of your time in the late afternoon. We still need 2 more workers, one for the 2:30 - 4:15 pm shift, and one for the 4-5:30 pm shift. No experience necessary -- We'll show you what to do. Contact Laurie Wadsworth if you can join us on Monday May 6.

Missions -- Mark your calendars now!  The Missions Committee is pleased to announce a visit from Cru Military on Sunday, 20 October.  Joining us that day will be BGEN David Phillips, Executive Director; Daryl Dotshay, Ministry Advancement Team Director; and our great friend and sister Carrie Pollock, Prayer Coordinator, Ministry Advancement Team.  More details to follow.  They will share great news from a dynamic organization.  Please ask Abby Fellows, Janet Grescek, or Ralph Puckett for more details or information on Cru Military and its ministries.
Hanover Center Fair:  Planning is underway for the annual fair in Hanover Center.  Now's the time to get involved!  The planning committee will have the next fair meeting on Thursday May 2nd at 6pm at the Hanover Center Church.  If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Torey Elder.
Directory Update:   Whether you're a long time member, regular attender, or if you've joined us only recently, we'd love to include you in our church directory!  We're updating the directory now, so if you'd like to add or update your contact information and/or a photo (individual or family), now's a great time to do it! Talk to Susan Hardy, Susan Johnson, or Elaine Hawthorne to add or update your info and thanks for your consideration.
